About The Pack
This excellent three-pack features a trio of great value whites from one of the world's most complex wine regions - Burgundy.
There's a cracking example of Burgundy's 'other' white variety, Aligote - we just love Domaine Goisot's artisanal version of this ancient grape.
Of course we had to include a top example of Chablis from the cellars of Domaine Gueguen. Modern richness combining with crunchy oyster-shell minerality here.
And then we have the Vincent Girardin Saint Vincent Bourgogne Blanc, one of our very favourite value White Burgundies.
It all adds up to a pack of educational joy!
2020 Goisot Bourgogne Aligoté
Unoaked and aged on lees, this is another great value wine from father and son duo Guilhem and Jean-Hugues Goisot.
Their Aligoté often gets overlooked, which is a shame, as it is firmly a core part of their overall line-up. Full of gently ripe white peach, Meyer lemon peel and vivid white florals. It’s quite plush, with a distinct mineral component similar to the chalk dust from a blackboard eraser, though it a really nice way. At its core is that limestone characteristic that defines the soils of the region..
A great value wine that shouldn’t be overlooked for more well known Burgundian regions or producers.Read more about 2020 Goisot Bourgogne Aligoté
2020 Domaine Gueguen Chablis
From the villages of Chichee & Prehy, the 40 year old vines are planted on regionally classic soils of Kimmeridgian, and limestone. This Jurassic soil, with its maritime fossils, is what provide the wines of Chablis with their hallmark minerality and salinity.
The palate of this wine is fruity, well-balanced, silky, racy, and offers a light acid structure. It is slightly unctuous, with a faint nutty character in harmony with its yellow stone and orchard fruit elements.
Like all their wines, there is a distinct modern feel, while at the same time still being true to its origins, both respectful and representative of the terroir on which the grapes are grown. The perfect drop for any occasion.Read more about 2020 Domaine Gueguen Chablis
2017 Vincent Girardin Cuvee Saint Vincent Bourgogne Blanc
A delightful entry-level White Burgundy, with fruit sourced primarily from the famous appellations of Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault.
The 2017 was great, untroubled vintage, particularly for white appellations, with tremendous ripeness and acidity levels. With the added complexity of natural yeast ferment and maturation in large oak puncheons, this is affordably excellent Burgundy, a with lightness of touch.Read more about 2017 Vincent Girardin Cuvee Saint Vincent Bourgogne Blanc
