About The Pack
Leaving aside Retsina, the great Greek wines are made from native varieties such as Assyrtiko, Xinomavro and Limniona.
We've put together a tremendous Explore Greece Premium Pack that includes fantastic expressions of these three grapes from the very best relevant producers - Sigalas, Thymiopoulos and Zafeirakis.
It's a trio that represents the very best of artisanal Greek wine agriculture, and should be welcome at any connoisseur's dinner table or cellar.
2021 Sigalas Assyrtiko Santorini
The Sigalas Assyrtiko Santorini is a wine that will truly make you feel like you're living it up on a Greek island. With its bright acidity and pronounced minerality, it evokes the sea and the terroir of Santorini with every sip. There are lovely flavours of citrus and stone fruit (particularly peach).
As the wine ages, it develops notes of honey and petrol (yes, in a good way), much like an aged Riesling. Naturally, as the wine is completely dry, it is a great choice to have with seafood, or any rich dishes with poultry or creamy sauces.

Xinomavro is the main red grape used in northern Greece, where it's regarded as the finest fruit for making elegant red wines.
This offering from Thymiopoulos is just that - an elegant and fine red. It entices you with fragrant aromas of red berries, then surprises with a one-two hit of tannin and acidity.
If you've never had the pleasure of enjoying a Xinomavro, this one is a reasonably priced entry point. It might be hard to pronounce, but its certainly easy to drink!

Winemaker Christos Zafeirakis is singularly focussed on reviving ancient varietals, and if this Limniona from his family estate is any indication, his endeavour is more than worthwhile.
Looking at this wine, it’s not crazy to suggest that it truly is Greek Pinot Noir. His wine is unique with quite a refined approach. It has an intense nose of juicy red berries, with tea notes, and an earth herbal element completing the aromatic bouquet. On the palate there is refreshing acidity and silky tannins, with red fruits and the same earthen botanical mix, which lingers long into the finish.
Such a soft, approachable red with a delicate texture. This has the potential to age gracefully, becoming ever so much more Burgundian with each passing day.
