About The Pack
Shaun Crinion has firmly solidified himself as one of the country's best value producers over the last handful of years.
His beautiful range of Yarra Valley wines has not missed a beat since being named the 2018 Best New Winery by James Halliday.
The wines are simply stunning both on the inside and out.
Here are Shaun's excellent new releases from 2019. The Appellation Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are two of the best buys in the country right now. The new additions of Rosé and Franc & Friends are equally impressive.
It's the rare combination of sophistication and slurpability in the Dappled range which sets it apart. This pack is the best way to get to know the range.
2019 Dappled Appellation Chardonnay
If you like Yarra Valley Chardonnay, we've got a live one for you here.
The fastidious hands of winemaker Shaun Crinion have put together a cracking Chardonnay under his Appellation label from the 2019 Yarra Valley vintage.
It's not often you find a focused, flavour packed, handmade Chardonnay for these dollars but that's exactly what Shaun has delivered. This is made using the same methodology as his premium single vineyard wines. No corners cut. The value is ridiculous.
It's a whole lot of wine crammed into the bottle at the price. This is a benchmark for 'entry-level' Chardonnay in the Yarra Valley and it's never available for long!

Shaun Crinion is making some beautiful Yarra Valley wines at the moment. His Pinot Noirs get better each year. In 2019, the Appelation is arguably his best to date.
There's a lot of attention to detail behind the scenes in this $30 Pinot Noir. Every berry selected by hand, some light foot-stomping, gentle plunging over its three weeks on skins just a few of the steps along the way to this wine getting made. Shaun going for soft extraction with max impact.
He hits the nail on the head. This is an excellent Pinot Noir from 2019.
Super value from this Yarra Valley one-man-band.

This is a beautiful, creamy yet delicate Rosé from small-batch star of the Yarra Valley, Shaun Crinion.
The variety is Shiraz - typically Shiraz-based Rosés come with a certain level of heft and richness, however with this release through gentle handling Shaun has crafted something that is full of flavour yet drinks light as a feather.
As with all the best Rosés, complexity is placed at a premium. This has a savouriness and a spicy top note to the nose, a plush palate flush with red berries and a lick of saline.
It's so, so good and there's so little made. Jump quick.

While Pinot Noir gets the lion's share of the attention in the Yarra Valley these days, the greatest wines of the region have been classically made from Bordeaux varieties.
With the average annual temperature of the region rising steadily each year, fuller-bodied varieties are excelling.
Here's an interestering blend that just seems to make sense. It's Cabernet Franc meets Shiraz, made in the style of Beaujolais with awesome results.
Franc has a light leafy fragrance and a perfume of violets and blue fruits, Shiraz supplies a lick of white pepper and a fraction more weight in the mid-palate - it's a delicious combination.
