About The Pack
Champagne R. Pouillon was founded by Roger Pouillon in 1947.
Today, the Domaine is managed by Roger's grandson, Fabrice, who continues to hand-craft each cuveé using traditional methods. Each grape is picked by hand, the wines all pressed in an ancient wooden basket press, every one of his 40 parcels is vinified separately - it's a time-honoured, hands-on approach that is producing superlative wines.
Fabrice farms some of the finest terroirs in Champagne, including Ay Grand Cru, Mareuil-sur-Ay, Mutigny, Epernay. He began conversion to organic farming in 2003. Since then, the wines have garnered plenty of acclaim for their complexity, purity, and translation of terroir.
This pack takes you on a tour of Fabrice's vineyards and varieties. Three vintage Champagnes, one Chardonnay, one Pinot Noir and one Pinot Meunier - each wine has an outstanding review from Gary Walsh at the Wine Front. Only limited allocations available.
2015 Champagne R. Pouillon Les Chataigniers Extra Brut

"100% Pinot Meunier from a site in Fesigny. Fine, minerally, almost a gun metal character, pepper/radish, ripe lemon and unripe strawberry, super dry and chalky fine on a long finish. So precise and focused with a snow pea kind of sweet green tension as a feature. So distinctive. Electric, even. Beauty."

"Almond paste, vanilla, smoky, zesty but flavoursome, unripe strawberry, fino and sea spray. Saline, yeasty and nutty, very tight, with a firm and powdery grip on a long finish. Lovely wine, and kind of emphatic, but you have to like them tight and saline."

"Bright and flavoursome, strawberry, ripe grapefruit, zesty tang, upfront, tasty, firmer feel to the bubbles, not quite fizzy, but bubbling away with vigour, and a dry and citrus laden finish. Bolder style, but excellent. Lovely grip on exit. Lots of character."
