Peter Bignell, the man behind Australia's first and only Rye Whisky, could only be described as a trailblazer.
Belgrove is almost entirely self-sustaining. Peter grows his own corn-rye for the base and his home-made still, as well as his farm equipment, is powered exclusively by biofuel.
He chars the barrels, he bottles everything himself by hand. It's a unique operation which is yielding impressive results.
In his assessment of a previous release of this now cult favourite Rye, Jim Murray once labelled it "memorable".
It's a beauty, and a one of a kind thus far in this part of the world.
