2023 Lambert Chardonnay

Luke Lambert is one of the Yarra Valley's most talented winemakers of his generation.

His low-intervention winemaking style has been producing effortless wines for quite some time now. Truly low-fi winemaking with quality at its heart.

Luke's Chardonnay is a gorgeous reflection of the Yarra Valley site it comes from. As always, it has the signature tension and drive for which his Chardonnays are known and loved...

It's one the finest Australian Chardonnays of the new vanguard. Read More

"A typically restrained, pristine and citrus-juicy expression of the grape, but with a little more deliciously appealing fruit than the particularly lean, focused and chalky 2022."
- Max Allen (The Financial Review)

2022 Sailor Seeks Horse Chardonnay

Sailor Seeks Horse has been one of the breakout Tasmanian producers of the last decade. The Lipscombes are one of Tasmanian wine's power couples, having taken Home Hill to soaring heights in recent times.

Their own private label is rare as hen's teeth and of supreme quality. Grown on their own vineyard in the Huon Valley, this is quickly becoming one of Tasmania's most sought-after white wines.

This is Chardonnay at its most pure and restrained. The wonderful fruit from this blossoming site squarely placed front and centre for all to admire. It's razor sharp, tightly wound and intensely focused.

This is a serious modern Australian Chardonnay. Read More

"Light straw-yellow hue and a beautiful, haunting bouquet of dried flowers and herbs, citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit), wheat, cream and subtle details of croissant and crusty bread. Very finely textured palate, intense and balanced, savoury in nature and understated, the finish long and refreshing. Super impressive chardonnay!"
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

2023 Bondar Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

Since his time working at Nepenthe, Andre Bondar has loved Adelaide Hills Chardonnay. Now, with his own label, he has the chance to make it just the way he likes it.

He found a cool little vineyard in Echunga, at 400m ASL, had the fruit picked by hand, pressed it as whole bunches and sent it to barrel and ceramic eggs to ferment at its own pace. Nine months later, this gorgeous little wine emerged. For a guy who owns a vineyard in the heart of 'big reds' country, Andre Bondar knows his way around a Chardonnay as well as anyone.

This release is pure and taut without overt oak or artifice. A truly lovely wine and yet another success for this impressive McLaren Vale outfit. Read More

"Lime and lime rind, floral, nutty and spicy, almond and white peach. It’s a lively wine, excellent intensity, a bold and juicy cut of acidity, so much zing, yet folded into gently creamy nutty and biscuity folds of savoury goodness. There’s a slight struck match character, and the finish is all sweet lime and spice, with terrific length and saline spicy character. Classic fine-boned Hills Chardonnay here, and so lovely."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

2023 L.A.S. Vino Margaret River Chardonnay

A new wine into the L.A.S. Vino stable this year, the Margaret River Chardonnay from Nic Peterkin is his introduction to the regional style of Chardonnay from his home.

It's ripe and luscious, juicy and bright, filled with the signature L.A.S. Vino flair. It's a wine designed as something of a gateway drug into the delicious world of Nic's single vineyard Chardonnays.

It packs the classic Margaret River Chardonnay punch and while this is technically his entry-level Chardonnay, many produce we suspect would be happy with this as their flagship. Read More

"Complex yet understated. Medium-long, harmonious finish. A superb wine in a slightly lighter style than the single-vineyard chardies."
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

"Let’s call it ‘entry level’ but with panache. Fleshy, textural thing, this. Full flavour, lots of energy, persistence too... Delicious, is the message. Potent and pretty with presence and a sense of power. Done well." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

2023 Mulline Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay

The Strathmore vineyard in Geelong is quite an interesting place, a massive vineyard planted between 1980-2000, it is uniquely broken up into different blocks with each planted to a specific style.

This wine comes from a single-clonal block of P58 Chardonnay. As a clone, it produces very fine, elegant, and linear wines. Picking time is key however, and the boys from Mulline nailed this one perfectly. Clean citrus and white peach dominate here, with a lovely creamy texture to round out the wine.

Despite the creaminess, there is real tension in this wine, the crisp malic acid component provides perfect counterbalance, keeping this wine singing pitch perfectly across the palate. Read More

"Aromas of pure white peach, gentle vanillin from the well-handled oak, white flowers and flecks of flint and oyster shells. There's a gentle creaminess on the elegant, persistent and nicely structured palate. It's very, very good now, but no problems ageing this for another four to six years. Geelong chardonnay doesn't get much better."
- Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

2023 Little Frances Chardonnay

Little Frances is the growing wine project of Beechworth-based vigneron Erin Pooley. Erin crafts wines from several different regions, both here and abroad, but her recent Beechworth offerings, including this wine, are her best work to date.

Erin applies a gentle hand in the winery, using mostly older oak and minimal intervention to allow the naturally generous and powerful Beechworth Chardonnay fruit to do the talking.

It’s a long, pure-fruited and mineral feeling wine, and in the context of Beechworth Chardonnay really represents outstanding value for money.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
