About The Pack
At Different Drop, we celebrate the incredible diversity that exists across Australian wine. We celebrate the smaller independent producers who add the colour and creativity to our wine scene, away from the cookie cutter wines made by supermarkets and multi-nationals.
That's what the Different Drop Artisans Of Australia month is all about - shining a spotlight onto genuine Aussie wine artists who are courageous, passionate and authentic. To celebrate our Artisans of Australia month, we have curated this excellent mixed pack featuring six of these artisan producers - three from the old guard who have helped revolutionise their home regions - and three from the vanguard that we think represent the exciting future of Australian wine.
We will be tasting these wines LIVE on Instagram during the month of May with some special guests. Pick up one of these great value packs for yourself and tune in to toast the great artisans of this great brown land.
2021 Two Tonne Tasmania TMV Pinot Noir
The TMV Pinot Noir is meant for earlier consumption than the more premium Dog and Wolf Pinot Noir by Ricky Evans.
It's a glimpse at the vintage for the Tamar Valley sub-region. But make no mistake, this is not your average 'entry level' Pinot Noir, this has an edge to it, a personality all of its own.
It's a cracking wine with immaculate fruit and a savoury backbone - a great representation of the quality being produced by a new wave of Tasmanian winemaking rock-stars.
Stocks are limited on this release, don't hesitate.

"So tasty, so crushable, so thirst-quenching, so damn enjoyable."
Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
For Sheriff Owen Latta The Wild West is the wine regions of Western Victoria, and this bouncy light red takes fruit from his home base in the Pyrenees, supported by grapes from across the western part of the state.
The grapes are a licorice allsorts affair featuring Mataro, Grenache, Shiraz, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Lagrein, and Shiraz. But that's not really the point.
The point is its insane, fun drinkability aligned with the vinous quality that defines Latta's minimalist wines. Drink it quick and fun, maybe with a chill, though it is pretty cool in its own right.

This wine from Bryan Martin is firmly ensconced as one of Australia's best value Sangioveses, and as you'd expect from that reputation, this release is yet another cracker.
Bryan's Sangiovese has always had that nice balance between Sangiovese's natural savoury varietal character and sheer drinkability. It's bursting with fruit, finishing dry and savoury, as is the varietal signature.
This is an awesome, authentic Sangiovese from one of Canberra's most exciting producers. If you're looking for a top quality wine to take along to your little local BYO pizza place, that's just what this was made for!

The S.C. Pannell 'Temp Touriga' has for many years now been one of Australia's most successful 'alternative variety' wines, and this is another flawless release.
Portuguese-inspired yet quintessentially Australian, it represents Steve's idea that wine should complement our climate and culture, not work against it. Amen to that.
Whether you're a lover of this wine or a Temp Touriga rookie, there is scarcely a better value red wine in McLaren Vale. Giddy up!

A beautifully different style of Margaret River Cabernet here from the effervescent Josephine Perry.
There are few, if any, other winemakers in Margaret River that would dare release their Cabernet Sauvignon without any new oak, but that is precisely what Jo chooses for her expression.
It's about fruit first and foremost, Jo trusting the vineyard and her instincts on when to pick to ensure that all structure in the wine is derived from the grape rather than an oak tree.
It's a gloriously elegant, graceful style of Cabernet - lifted and precise.

Pete Schell continues to explore the possibilities with Shiraz/Syrah in his beloved Barossa Valley, and this vibrant and lifted Syrah is a gorgeous drink.
Designed as a more understated and elegant version of Barossa Shiraz, Schell picks fruit from a couple of different, cooler sites in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. The grapes are picked earlier to retain freshness and perfume, before seeing a mixture of stainless steel and wooden and concrete fermenters.
Wild and savoury yet soft and sumptuous, this is Barossa Shiraz unlike we usually see it.
Interesting, flavour-packed and moreish, this is another winner from this superstar winemaker.
