2016 Adelina Estate Grenache
Their Grenache fits squarely in the 'new wave' of Grenache sweeping the Australian wine industry. This is a finer boned, more delicate and complex style of Grenache. The fruit from Block 2 on this stunning 80+-year-old vineyard on their estate is left on skins for 50 days in concrete vats prior to pressing to neutral barrels. This extracts maximum character from the fruit in its purest form. Freshness and age worthiness reign supreme here.
As Mike Bennie described it in his cracking 95 point review as "A superb example of grenache at the apex. Wonderful drinking.". We love this style of Grenache, it is the future of the variety in this country and this one is mixing it with the best.Read more about 2016 Adelina Estate Grenache
2016 Adelina Nebbiolo
Adelina continue to firm themselves as one of Australia's premier Nebbiolo producers, and beautiful wines like this only enhance this reputation.
The 2016 vintage comes from the same Adelaide Hills vineyard as previous vintages, the famed Bowe-Lees vineyard in Woodside.
The fruit spent up to 82 days resting on skins and went to sleep in old large barrels for a year before bottling.
It's a softer, more delicate expression of Nebbiolo this year - light, breezy but with the firm, granitic tannin that is Nebbiolo's signature.
A great release of this highly sorted Australian Nebb.Read more about 2016 Adelina Nebbiolo
2017 Adelina Shiraz Mataro
The Adelina Shiraz Mataro showcases the exquisite old vine Clare Valley fruit that Jen Gardner and Col McBryde have at their disposal.
Over half of the fruit in the 2017 release is sourced from vineyards 100+ years old. The Mataro component is grown on the famous Wendouree vineyard. It's treated with the typical Adelina care: wild ferments, gentle handling, and this year a portion fermented in concrete.
This vintage is a little lighter on its feet than the heroic 2016, a more restrained and elegant representation of old-vine Clare Valley fruit.
As a complete package, this is remarkable value and one of the best pound-for-pound reds in the Clare Valley.Read more about 2017 Adelina Shiraz Mataro
