The 2024 vintage, defined by a calm spring and an idyllic summer, has produced a version of The Gask that is particularly fragrantly spiced this year, one of the best in a few years we think.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn the cellar, Torbreck keeps the focus on site typicity: small open-top fermenters, basket pressing, and 18 months in seasoned French oak. By avoiding new wood, the natural granite-like minerality of the Eden Valley is allowed to take center stage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wine is deep crimson in the glass, with immediate aromas of wild blueberries, mulberries, and boysenberries. What makes The Gask distinct is the secondary layer of violets, potpourri, and sandalwood, all woven through a stony, graphite-like core. The palate is plush but held in place by a line of fresh acidity and soft, polished tannins.
