Within Feudo di Mezzo, Etna’s largest contrada, Tenuta delle Terre Nere works with Il Quadro delle Rose, a parcel prized for the supple texture and generosity of its wines.

The Nerello Mascalese vines grow in deep, ash-rich volcanic soils at around 600 metres on Etna’s northern slope. Only fruit from vines over 50 years old makes this bottling, and the site is consistently among the estate’s earliest picks.

The richness of 2024 suits Feudo di Mezzo’s welcoming style. There’s ripe strawberry fruit, cedar and dried herbs, with a smoky note towards the finish; fine tannins give the fruit shape and a little grip.

Awarded 97 points by James Suckling and 95 by The Wine Advocate, this combines old-vine depth with an ease that makes it appealing young. Its generous fruit and supple structure are the draw now, with a strong track record for ageing adding to the appeal.

97 points
"Strawberry, caramel and cedar aromas with hints of vanilla are enticing. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins and a juicy, lightly chewy finish. Turns smoky and almost peaty at the end with dried herbs local to the volcanic slopes. Typical and sophisticated."
- James Suckling

95 points
"There is a frustrating effortlessness to it. Chalky tannins and ample fruit convey the exuberant character of the vintage, yet the wine remains composed. Il Quadro delle Rose also has a proven ability to age beautifully."
- Monica Larner (The Wine Advocate)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2572/9722/files/2024TenutadelleTerreNereEtnaRossoFeudodiMezzo.png?v=1792108939
