Drawn from the brothers’ oldest Appenheim vines, mainly in prized Hundertgulden, it’s a great place to start with this producer's top tiers of Rieslings.

A smaller parcel comes from nearby Eselspfad, with both sites sharing limestone-rich soils and south-facing slopes. Warm days and cool nights allow slow ripening, and Christian and Matthias pick in several late passes to catch each parcel at its best.

Wild fermentation takes place in stainless steel and wooden barrels, followed by six months on lees. That time builds a beautifully creamy texture around ripe yellow fruit and herbal notes, with lime-like acidity, a salty edge and fine chalky grip keeping the finish fresh and long.

There’s plenty of pleasure here already, and the concentration and structure to develop with time in bottle.
