Really good drinking.
About This Wine
What a cool story here. Most people know winemaker Joe Holyman of Stoney Rise, and here we have the first ever wine from his son Oscar who was only 16 when he made this.
For many of us, the scars of COVID-induced home-schooling will live with us forever. Well, is seems during this period Oscars mom Lou became, miss, and this wine is an ode to her teaching cameo ‘Yes Miss’.
Lovely Pinot here, lots of red fruit, a nice stony mineral edge to it, and a lovely dried herbal component. Pretty fantastic wine here from Oscar, seems the grape hasn’t fallen far from the vine.
About Stoney Rise
Stoney Rise is a small winery in Tasmania's Tamar Valley that has a huge reputation.
Winemaker Joe Holyman and his wife Lou purchased the property in 2004, a picturesque site planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay planted in 1986.
Since then, they have developed a keen following, producing some of the most stunning Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on the Apple Isle. Interestingly, they also have a little Gruner Veltliner and Trousseau in the ground adding a little colour to their range.
These wines fly off the shelves. And no wonder, they are right at the top of the pile in Tasmania at the moment.
