About the Wine
Angus Vinden has, perhaps more than anyone else, breathed new life into the Hunter Valley. Granted, there have been those who came before - Vinden stands on the shoulders of Harkham, for example - but the popular interest in Angus' wines stands as a watershed moment.
Take this Chenin Blanc. It's not a variety which is regularly associated with the Hunter, but it has been made shockingly well. There is a gorgeously balanced marriage here between flavour and substance, with powerfully fresh citrus intensity, stone-fruit ripeness and textural breadth. But the wine still captures a sense of approachability - you could take this to your quirky friends or to your parents, and both would be happy. It seems that you just can't argue with quality.
About Vinden Wines
Young Angus Vinden is the owner/winemaker of this much-loved Hunter Valley winery.
Having taken the reins from his father just a few years ago, Gus is reimagining his family's wine label with a string of exciting, modern wines coming out of his cellar.
He sources fruit from some of the Hunter's greatest vineyards, focusing primarily on Semillon and Shiraz, as well as turning out a very good Tempranillo.
He's one of the young guns of the Hunter Valley that should have a close eye kept on him. His wines are on the up!
