About the Wine
For the summer, we're all about Rose - and the El Desperado Rose is one we love.
It's medium bodied yet delicate, hints of Turkish delight and fresh berries - it's a complex drink, but one you can't help but keep topping your glass up with and can't get enough of.
Pop this badboy in the fridge or have it on ice.
About The Pawn Wine Co.
The Pawn Wine Co. had its beginning in 2002 when vignerons and winemakers Tom Keelan and his wife Rebecca Willson had their fruit rejected by one of the monopolising monolithic wineries in the region as it was deemed to ‘not be good enough’. They were pawns, played and discarded by a soulless giant.
So, with a bit of a middle finger to the giant, they set out to make small hand selected parcels of wine from alternative varieties grown in the Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek.
Like pawns, these varieties were sacrificed by wine corporates and blended away to insignificance. Tom and Rebecca have set out to identify other idyllic viticultural sites and hand selected parcels of fruit within the Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek to produce wines that are not only a bit unconventional, but ultimately enjoyable to drink.
