At 9,200 vines per hectare across just 0.35 of a hectare, it's a deliberately extreme piece of viticulture. Most of Heathcote picks in February or March. This block came in during April.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003ePlanted in 2017 with three Shiraz clones, the site sits at 400 metres on decomposed granite and is farmed organically with Poussard pruning and zero tillage. The southerly orientation slows ripening and keeps development even across the block.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eAfter ferment the wine spent 26 months in a ceramic egg, then three years in bottle before release. It's a detailed, fine-boned Shiraz that reflects the cool, slow-ripening character of the site. The depth is there but it builds gradually rather than hitting you up front.
