About The Wine
It's rare to see an Aussie Sylvaner, and even rarer to see one this good, so the Rivulet Sylvie is definitely something to be excited about.
Made with two parcels of Sylvaner, one fermented on skins for 5 days and the other for 21 days, it's the kind of wine you might expect to see from the Jura region in France (only with a little more freshness here). The use of 20% new oak, a range of barrel sizes and lees ageing has created a wine with lots of tang and zing while having a silky, almost full-bodied palate of complex fruit flavours.
A terrific wine at a great price with heaps of personality.
About Rivulet
Rivulet Wines is the brand of winemaker Keira O'Brien, who decided to create her own label after having worked for other Tasmanian wineries. Her desire is to work with special parcels of fruit and have a "playful" attitude towards the winemaking, only releasing very small quantities of wine in the process; which is fitting as "rivulet" means a small stream of water".
O'Brien likes to make wines "with texture, precision and purity in mind", and she crafts them from well-known varieties such as Pinot Noir and Riesling, as well as rarer ones such as Sylvaner and Siegerrebe.
