About The Wine

A blend of Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc, the Aromatico is one of Steve Pannell's most popular wines at cellar door and, as he describes, "Moscato for grown-ups".

It is modelled on the leaner and zippier white wines of Northern Italy, rather than the more unctuous versions of these blends found in Alsace.

It's not as complex or intense as many of Pannell's iconic wines, but nor is it designed to be.

It's fresh and fun, and if you want an easy-drinking, flavoursome Summer white that isn't yet-another Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio then give this is a go!

About S.C. Pannell

Quite simply, Stephen Pannell is one of Australia’s finest and most imaginative winemakers. He’s a Jimmy Watson Trophy winner, a McLaren Vale Bushing King winner, a two-time Max Schubert Trophy winner, International Red Winemaker of the Year and Decanter Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Contributors to the World of Wine. Nick Stock described him as potentially “one of the greatest Australian winemakers ever to make wines in our age”.

Steve’s wines are made with modern Australian food and wine culture at the front of mind. The wines come from a range of stunning McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills vineyards, and are made from sustainable varieties that properly suit his South Australian climate.  They're built around brightness of fruit and savoury tannin structure, and whatever your poison is Steve has you covered!

He is truly one of the most forward thinking and inspirational Australian winemakers alive today.

From The Producer

2021 vintage conditions were joyous. There was no stress in the vineyard, with plenty of water and warmth at the right time. An extended ripening period without disease pressure led to great flavour. The fruit was plentiful and perfectly ripe. What a strange contrast to the previous year!

The blend composition is: 76% Gewürztraminer (harvested from Woodside on 22nd February; 20% Riesling (harvested from Echunga on 18th March); and 4% Sauvignon Blanc from Carey Gully (also picked on 18th March).

The nose is exotic, complex and deeply aromatic, with notes of galangal, stem ginger, Turkish delight, beurre bosch pear and citrus blossom. In the mouth the wine is fresh, linear and compelling. A laser like entry of exotic flavour is backed up by a back palate alive with stone fruit and lingering Asian herbs like lemongrass and coriander root.

Blend : Gewurztraminer (76%), Riesling (20%), Sauvignon Blanc (4%)
ABV : 13%
Closure : Screw Cap
Drink Until : 2025
Bottle Size : 750ml

    Aromatic Adelaide Hills blend

While I personally would not describe this as "Moscato for grown-ups", it's still an interesting blend of three well known white wine grape varieties. Easy drinking yes, but not as delicious as some of Steve Pannell's other offerings.

    Feminine

Like an Alsatian white blend, roses, lychees and balanced acid. It's very drinkable, but maybe a little too perfumed. I still enjoyed very much

    A lovely, easy drinking wine

I can only say positive things about this wine. It has a lovely bouquet and is very easy to drink. It is a great wine to have with bikkies and cheese.

    Gewurz blend with a twist

Outwardly aromatic with bright floral nose.

All your lychee, Rose, Turkish delight flavours. Clean and crisp, hint of residual sugar to round it out. Please pair with spicy fresh Thai food if you want to enjoy this one.

Not usually my style, but a great example of a Gewurz blend.

    Delightful

This wine has a sweet taste that mellow in to a drier finish, it is smooth and clean and does not leave any bitter aftertaste. It was an absolute delight to come across this memorable wine.
