About the Wine

Clare Valley is best known for producing fantastic Rieslings, and this one from O'Leary Walker is absolutely stellar.

Carefully handcrafted with fruit sourced from two organically farmed vineyards in the Polish Hill subregion, known for its slate soils, this wine sings of fine minerality and a deliciously mouthwatering limey acidity.

It's fresh, it's zesty, it's vegan and it's under $30 - what are you waiting for?

About O'Leary Walker

With decades of winemaking experiences under their belts, David O'Leary and Nick Walker joined forces in 2000 to begin O'Leary Walker wines.

They handcraft all their wines using some of the best fruit from a range of subregions in South Australia. They focus on small batch, expertly crafted wines that are high quality, and full of personality.

They have two assistant winemakers on the team now, Luke Broadbent and Jack Walker (Nick Walker's son), who are just as passionate about making great wines.

Additional Info

From the Producer

Grey loam acid soils over sandstone and slate make up the profile with much of the top soil littered with rock, proving just how tought the vines need to be to sustain growth and produce quality fruit. It is the slate of Polish Hill River, as opposed to the limestone of Watervale, that gives rise to the point of difference between these styles.

Fruit is harvested in the cool of night, de-stemmed, crushed and gently pressed. This results in a fine free-run cut and a pressings component, with all batches kept separately in stainless stell tanks. The free-run juice is chilled to preserve the vineyard expression and purity of fruit. Once the juice has settled it is racked off solids and seeded with yeast. A cool, temperature controlled fermentation is carried out over 10-14 days. The wine is then chilled and filtered prior to bottling.

Critic Reviews

95Points
The Wine Front

"This is so direct, so dry and so intense. It’s a statement in pure, clean form. It’s beset with gravel, steel and kaffir lime juice/leaf notes, and it drives piercingly long through the finish. Drink the Watervale, cellar the Polish Hill River." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

92Points
The Real Review

"Pale straw colour, really youthful in the glass. Aromas of citrus blossom, jasmine, wet stone, lemon pith and ginger. Really fine and delicately poised on the palate, tightly coiled-up. Tangy lemon, mouthwateringly crunchy acidity and a minerally, textured and long finish. Just at the beginning of what shall be a very long life." - Aaron Brasher (The Real Review)

92Points
Halliday Wine Companion

"Incredibly plush and ripe citrus fruits overlay a skeleton of minerally acidity. More structured than it is flavoured, perhaps, but plenty of saline acid to keep the party going." - Erin Larkin (Halliday Wine Companion)

Delivery times vary considerably with Australia Post and unfortunately there is no Express Delivery Option for wine (because it is fragile and heavy). Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.

FaQs

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.

Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 1300 668 385 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
