About the Wine
The Mercer Montepulciano Rosso brings a little bit of the Italian countryside to Australia, delivering an attractive, energetic wine.
Montepulciano is an Italian grape that is slowly and thankfully growing in popularity in Australia. Mercer's iteration of it is a nod to its European forebears with its lovely dark fruits and chocolate tones, with some savoury herbs adding some complexity. On the palate, it's all about energy and flavour, with the fruitiness singing alongside the acidity, while the tannins are not overpowering but finely integrated.
If you can't get your hands on an Italian Montepulciano, grab the Mercer instead. You'll thank us later.
About Mercer Wines
Hunter Valley native Aaron Mercer has been involved in the wine game for over 20 years, starting from the very bottom, scrubbing tanks.
While he has experience across the globe, he’s made a name for himself in Australia through his previous role at organic pioneers, Tamburlaine.
Now back in the Hunter, Aaron sources sustainably grown fruit from across NSW for his wines.
This is an exciting new project, part of a new wave of NSW producers doing things their own way. With a great range of wines, it a label to keep your eyes on.
