2021 Mallaluka Barbera

Gundagai, NSW

Difficult to pack more zest and flavour into a red wine than this. Uber juicy but carries some weight and depth. Goes down like the first post-work beer.

About
Great, medium weight, attractive and easy as red.

About The Wine

Barbera from Gundagai is not a radio phone-in caller but a red wine that oozes vibrancy and will bring joy to all.

Barbera's natural tarty acidity shines through among the raspberry, cherry, sour sweet flavours. It has also seen some old oak maturation to give it some extra depth and texture.

Should make all long-time admirers first time buyers...

About Mallaluka

Mallaluka is a family affair in the Canberra district of NSW.

These estate-grown wines are made by second generation vigneron Sam Leyshon who has most recently learnt to ply his trade assisting Bryan Martin and Tim Kirk at Clonakilla.

These are modern wines that reflect the changing face of this exciting region. He makes wines with a wild side, with minimal intervention and are insane value for money.

With Sam in the driver's seat, Mallaluka is one of the rising stars of the region, bringing a unique light and shade to the Canberra district.

"Gundagai region hosts the barbera that Sam Leyshon plays with for the Mallaluka label. Tomato leaf, red berries, cherry colas scents, similar flavours, tart acidity, a bit more Campari here, game meat, strong black pepper in the mix. Heaps going on, slurpiness, a little warmth but counterbalancing freshness in spades. Great, medium weight, attractive and easy as red." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
