About the Wine
Those who know, know Pinot. And you can tell that Megan and James know by the layered complexities, unadulterated freshness and moxie coming through on this wine. It's absolutely a light and delicate Pinot Noir, but don't be fooled. There is much more here than meets the eye, as it were.
The fruit was fermented and matured in a combination of large and small format neutral oak for nine months to ensure that the fruit was the highlight of the wine. But, given that Pinot is a mysterious little thing, there are some savoury spices coming through, some fresh greenery and delicate tannins. It's a friendly Pinot, which is designed to be equal parts friendly and proper.
,About M & J Becker
Husband and wife duo, Meagan and James Becker are a part of the new guard based in the Hunter Valley, fighting to reshape the region and its rigid preconceptions surrounding the growth and production of wine.
Making their wines with a focus on minimal intervention, their estate vineyard is currently in the process of conversion to certified organics.
After cutting his teeth in California, James returns to Mendocino County once a year to produce small quantities of single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
M&J Becker Wines was realised to focus on Meagan and James passion for the region, and its ability to produce dry–grown and environmentally sustainable wine.
