About the Wine
The Lightfoot & Sons Myrtle Point Chardonnay is a classic example of a family winery just doing things right.
The Lightfoot family has worked their Chardonnay in the vineyard into a lovely place. It's a full-bodied style, with great use of French oak. Flavour and balance is put at a premium, and they do it just right.
It's a good value, full flavoured Chardonnay from a small family producer. Great stuff.
About Lightfoot & Sons
Rob and Tom Lightfoot are the eponymous sons, being the second generation of the Lightfoot family, and now running their estate vineyards in the lovely Gippsland Lakes region of Victoria.
Since the first vineyard planting in 1995 on their Myrtle Block farm, the family have carefully tended small plantings of mostly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with some Shiraz and Cabernet also present.
Good rainfall, cooling coastal breezes and the famed terra rossa over limestone soil, make the Lightfoot terroir ideal for producing wines of character and flavour. They are also crazy good value.
