A spicy Queenslander from the guys at Konpira Maru made from 100% Mataro/ Mourvedre from Stanthorpe in the Granite Belt. And granitic it is, with lively acidity, light graphitey tannins and a light dry finish.
Tangy and earthy, its wavers from light to medium bodied, replete with spicy, plummy and dark cherry fruit./p>
About Konpira Maru
Konpira Maru is the story of Alistair Reed and Sam Cook coming together from various parts of the wine industry to start their own creative outlet for making fascinating, minimum intervention wines. Their first release, a mere 600 bottles, was in 2014.
Their success, particularly with wonderful Pet Nats has allowed them to expand their horizons. They source fruit from growers in central Victoria and the South Burnett and Granite Belt regions in Queensland. And from 2016 they have been organically farming their own Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris in Whitlands, high above the King Valley.
