The Florita stands tall at the top of the pile for Clare Valley Riesling.

From a single block planted in Watervale by the iconic Leo Buring in 1962, the Barrys have nursed this fruit to bottle since 1986. It's a wine with a towering reputation. It consistently receives rave reviews and has become one of the most collected in the region.

A wine of incredible drive and purity, it corkscrews through the mouth with a flurry of classic citrus notes and insane acidity.

If you want to see just how impressive Clare Valley Riesling can be, this is a benchmark wine that you need to try.

The story of Riesling in Australia is as old as the wine industry itself. The famed Florita Vineyard is synonymous with the classic grape variety and was established by Leo Buring in 1962. In 1986 the Barry family acquired the 80 acre property and began to write the next chapter in the famous vineyard's history.

This micro-batch Riesling is made from grapes hand-selected from individual rows. Its best fruit comes from vines planted in shallow loamy soils and the vineyard has good air-drainage which alleviates the risk of frost.

95 Points - "Lemon/lime, a distinct 'mineral' feel here, and tightness to the wine, though it's also not short on flavour. It's intense, a burst of mixed citrus with a stony/flinty texture, bright clean acidity, and a subtle floral perfume on a finish of excellent precision and length. Classic." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

95 Points - "Palish straw colour. Restrained, shy, somewhat closed aromas which are clean, pleasant and classic: dried flowers and herbs, with a slaty mineral trace, while the palate is lean and delicate with refined, linear shape and a touch of austerity. Refreshing acidity. A wine that seems built to age and will reward cellaring." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

97 Points - "Tasted alongside the Florita Cellar Release (2015) and the Wolta Wolta (2019), and never was there a more achingly beautiful trio of wines. This ranks slightly higher than the Cellar Release due to its startling clarity, and scintillating, persuasive power. It will live forever and a day, and I bet at Cellar Release time in 2027, when we see this wine again, you will be thanking your lucky stars you stocked up now, in 2022. Astounding." - Erin Larkin (Halliday Wine Companion)

98 Points - Top 100 Wines of 2022 - "Transfixes you with the first sip and builds its intensity without effort, its length even more so. Riesling and naked power seldom come to terms with each other, but here the wine's deep-set layers of steely acidity are underlined with lime/lemon essence through to a finish without end." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

Jim Barry

Jim Barry Wines is a family affair in the Clare Valley.

Founded by one of SA's most influential wine figures, this producer has been one of the most acclaimed in the region since it began in 1974.

They focus primarily on traditional Clare Valley varieties, with a myriad of laser-sharp Rieslings, powerful Shiraz and intense Cabernet blends making up the foundations of the range. With a sprawling range including everything from super-premium to top value, they are considered a cornerstone of the Clare with classic wines that develop beautifully in the cellar given time.

Now, with the third generation of Barrys - Sam, Tom and Olivia - now in charge of the winemaking, marketing and business development, there is a new energy about the brand and there are plenty of exciting new things on the horizon.

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
