About the Wine
It's never about the actual varieties in a wine like this - it's about what they bring to the table and what the end result is. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc were used here, each parcel fermented separately before being blended and left to mature oak for nine months.
What a bright, chirpy wine this is. It's juicy and fragrant, with a lot of refreshing acid, and would easily take a chill on a hot day for maximum refreshment. There is so much energy here, carried by ripe strawberries, watermelon and orange peel. Perfect for a picnic, when something light, fun and easy is all you need.
About Golden Child
Golden Child is the project of father-and-son team, David and James Hamilton. David grows the grapes from his own vineyard in Kuitpo in the southern Adelaide Hills, while son James uses his wealth of winemaking experience to bring the wines to bottle.
Having their own 20+-year-old vineyard gives the Hamiltons enormous flexibility with the wines and allows James to craft some pretty unique offerings. The fruit is all hand-picked, fermented with natural yeasts and crafted together gently and with minimum additions.
The range is wide, colourful and wholly enjoyable - this is a new Hills producer to keep an eye on.
