Benjamin Leroux has a gentle touch with his red wines, deftly coaxing the most pleasurable parts out of each pocket of Burgundy that he works with.

For the Nuits-Saint-Georges, historically perhaps a more structured and at times rigid communes on the Côte-d'Or, Leroux finds softness and finesse.

This vintage, the assemblage is evenly divided between Aux Saint-Jacques and Aux Herbues, situated along the Vosne border, and a plot located in the northern section of Fleurières, just to the south of the town.

Extremely limited.

"All in deep red fruit, not too plummy, a balanced and consistent overall Nuits-St-Georges.” - Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy)

"There's a little fleshiness here with a savory, tobacco-tinged finish.” - Neal Martin (Vinous)

In generous years, Leroux can vinify five Nuits-Saint-Georges wines: this blend of climats; a village lieu-dit Les Allots; and three Premier Cru wines from Les Cailles, Aux Thorey and Les Boudots. This year’s blend is a roughly equal split between Aux Saint-Jacques and Aux Herbues on the Vosne border, and a parcel in the northern part of Fleurières, just south of the town. It should come as no surprise that Leroux’s Nuits tastes nothing like the classic rugged stereotype. Instead, you can expect the kind of supple elegance and poise this grower brings to all his wines.

90-92 points - “From Fleurieres, Herbues and Aux St Jacques, bright crimson purple, and not too ripe in fruit profile, this has an excellent structure with just the right tannins and correct acidity. All in deep red fruit, not too plummy, a balanced and consistent overall Nuits-St-Georges.” - Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy)

90-92 points - “The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges les Boudots 1er Cru is a little more closed than the Les Cailles, slightly earthier in style and opens with dark berry and subtle Earl Grey scents. The palate is medium-bodied with an edgy opening and fine acidity. There's a little fleshiness here with a savory, tobacco-tinged finish. Fine, though the Les Cailles has a little more panache.” - Neal Martin (Vinous)

Benjamin Leroux

Burgundian native Benjamin Leroux is one of the brightest minds and winemaking talents of his generation.

Considered a winemaking prodigy from an early age, Leroux attended the Lycée Viticole in Baune at the tender age of 13. Then, at the age of just 26, he ascended to the roles of manager and winemaker in the famed cellars of Domaine Comte Armand - a remarkable vote of confidence in one so young.

In 2007 he launched his eponymous label to wide critical acclaim. His has been a meteoric rise through the ranks of Burgundy's producers. His incisive modern approach to winemaking combined with his deep knowledge and respect for tradition has seen his small, hand-crafted cuveés coveted by collectors across the world.

These wines speak eloquently of where they come from. A legend in the making, Leroux's wines are some of the most exciting in modern-day Burgundy.

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
