About the Wine
100% Cabernet Franc coming from Australia is a rare find, likely because the grape is quite challenging. Treat it wrong and you get a wine with two left feet, but when things go right they go very right.
With 100% whole berries, gentle extraction and 12 days on skins before being pressed into old French oak for 8 months, you can rest assured that this is a wine which will come at you gently. Tart plums and blackberries come through on the nose, with fresh raspberries too. There is a bit of earthy spice to the palate, but mostly it's delicious dark cherries, cassis and savoury thyme. Gentle acid for the line, soft tannins for the length. There's a lot of winemaking here - great value.
About Bande Apart
Jess & Jamie are Bande Apart.
This exciting new project is their chance to step out away from their day jobs in Coonawarra and Mildura respectively and play with a few small batches of fruit that they want to drink.
The fruit they work with comes from the King Valley and the Adelaide Hills. Inspired by a shared vintage in Burgundy, they have sort out Gamay & Pinot Meunier for reds and Chardonnay & Aligote for whites and are making them in a fresh, smashable style.
They only make 2-4 barrels of each wine so stocks are limited.
