About the Wine
The Allies Merricks Chardonnay is showing wonderfully, with beautiful aromas of lemon pith, grapefruit, and blossom notes, which unfurl in the glass. Minerality, bright acidity, and a dash of richness frame the palate, making the wine very enjoyable to drink. Like with other Allies wines, it will still live on for several years and will reward your patience.
While the Merricks site is quite cool, it has good exposure to the sun, meaning that the grapes can ripen slowly and the cool nights help the acid levels to stay high, which aids with the feeling of freshness and vitality in this lovely wine.
About Allies Wines
A former Chef and Sommelier, David Chapman began Allies in 2003, whilst working at Moorooduc Estate. The first wine was just few barrels of Pinot Noir from a vineyard around the corner in Tuerong. Today, there is a bit more but the quantity is limited by the number of acres Chapman is able to manage by himself. His mission is to handcraft rich, silky and perfumed Pinot Noir, showcasing the diversity of the beautiful Mornington Peninsula through wines taken from different township
