About This Wine
Made famous in the Northern Rhone, and taken up extensively just before the millennium in Australia, Shiraz Viognier blends have a distinct style to them.
Though only 4% Viognier in this wine, what it imparts in clear to see. Heady perfume of lifted spice and that apricot kernel character that is unequivocal.
The palate is rich and luscious, followed by long tannins and dominating fruit, this is a great, full-bodied Vale wine.
About Willunga 100
In 2005 when they founded Willunga 100, Grenache in McLaren Vale was mostly used for blending. But the people behind this label had a crystalline vision to showcase the variety, and how well suited it was in the region.
To that end, they found some 50 y/o dry grown bush-vines, and began the journey. These days, it’s clear how special McLaren Vale Grenache is.
And the name Willunga 100? It seems that during the settlement of SA, you needed 100 households to get a place on the map, hence Willunga 100.
