About The Wine
The Piggy Pop (formerly Heavy Petting) Pet Nat is the wild creation of notable UK Master of Wine, Tim Wildman.
Each year Tim makes the pilgrimage from the UK to South Australia to pursue his bespoke Pet Nat project. 2020 was a challenging year with bushfires limiting volumes, so the Nero d'Avola fruit has been added to with some lovely McLaren Vale Mataro.
Piggy is a fun times wine, filled to bursting point with fresh berries and licorice, a fine creamy mousse and refreshing acidity. Such a fun wine with as much personality as its creator.

From The Producer
The 2020 vintage presented us with low crops as a result of disruptive weather during flowering, and our Nero vineyard was 50% down on crop yield. To make up for this we had to find another red variety that would complement the Nero and provide the Mediterranean freshness and bright acidity that we need. After much searching, we found a neighbouring block of Mataro (aka Mourvèdre) which provided the fresh acid we were after with an additional punch of spicy fruit weight. We’re very happy with how it has married with the Nero.
Both varieties were hand-harvested on 6th March in the cool of dawn to retain freshness. The fruit was transferred directly to the Lodestone winery in the neighbouring Adelaide Hills. We fermented with 25% whole-bunches for a few hours before pressing the juice off skins. We wanted to achieve an even lighter colour this year, making it a rosé with a hazy blood orange hue. The intense fruit allowed us to carry out a short skin maceration time whilst achieving great intensity in the final wine — that’s the secret behind the Piggy! The wine was bottled with 12 g/L residual sugar and completed its fermentation in the bottle over winter, becoming fully dry and resulting in a final pressure of 2.5 to 3-bar, producing a gentle foam. Wild yeast, no adds, no filtration, no fining, zero sulphur = 100% natural goodness.

Sweet berries and plums, a cavalcade of exotic spice, dark cocoa and licorice root floods from the glass. The fizz is fins and creamy, a light touch of natural yoghurt and a tart finish of cranberry and blueberries. Delish. - Different Drop Wine Team
Hazy blood orange pink with foaming jewel-like bubbles, the aromas explode out of the glass with a riot of red currant, pomegranate and spice. The palate is fresh and juicy with a snap, crackle and pop of Nero acidity on the finish to keep it mouthwatering. Pizza friendly. Warehouse Pickupis available from our Sydney warehouse in Ultimo, 2007. Just select Local Pickup at checkout. We are open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
