About the Wine
This Grenache is basically the same as Tonic's non reserve style. The key difference is, essentially, that is has seen more time in oak. With more time left maturing before bottling, there is a lot more depth, flavour and layered complexity without being out of touch with the Tonic style.
There are juicy red berries all through this wine, with earthy spice, rosehip, fresh cherries, dark chocolate and fresh mint. A gentle, terracotta like grip and clean acid line gives a great structure while also keeping things feeling agile. Let this open up in the glass and you'll be well and truly rewarded. Thank God for Grenache.
About Tonic Wines
Tonic Wines is a South Australian-based one-man show by experienced winemaker, Glenn Barry.
Glenn has curated a fine collection of sustainably-farmed vineyards from across the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley and McLaren Vale and beyond that provide the basis for his small, handcrafted range.
The Tonic stable spans Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro, Malbec & Chardonnay. These wines are highly expressive and have developed quite a 'cult' following from those in the know. Very small batches made and plenty of demand means you'll find them only available for a limited time.
As Glenn says about his Tonics, "It'll do nothing for your health but plenty for your soul."
