There’s a fine mineral quality and youthful power.
About This Wine
The ‘Magnum Opus’ of their range according to winemaker Rachael Carter, the Maren is an off-dry Riesling styled on the wines of Mosel .
The key characteristics of this wine; zesty citrus, white flowers and minerality, all wrapped in a perfect balance of acid and sugars. Super concentrated and focused on the palate with depth, backed by subtle sweetness and bright acidity.
The wine finishes with incredible length and despite the sweetness, a really refreshing character.
Rachael Carter founded Soho Wines in 2008, using grapes from her father's vineyards in Marlborough and Waiheke Island. The intention from the beginning was to create premium wines that could be enjoyed by anyone. They now also source grapes from vineyards in the Gibbston, Bendigo and Bannockburn areas of Central Otago region on the South Island. Wines are made by Dave Clouston in Marlborough, James Rowan on Waiheke Island, and Grant Taylor in Central Otago.
Soho Wines currently makes a broad selection of wines across three labels (Black, Pink Sheep, and White), from Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Syrah. Proceeds from sales of their Pink Sheep collection go to charities focusing on mental health, children, animals, and the environment.
