About The Wine
There's a fun story behind this wine...
Wayne Ahern & Suzi Hilder are not really sure what this wine is made from. The vines it comes from are over 120 years old. They seem to recall that at some point it was refered to as "Carignan", but they can't be sure.
Of course, they could always get it DNA tested but that would take away all the fun. For now, they just refer to it as "variety X" and they make one hell of a Pet Nat out of it.
Wayne says it's the wine that most reminds him of harvest time when fresh ferments are ticking away and everything is humming.
It's vivacious and energetic and a bucket load of fun to drink.
About Smallfry
Smallfry has been one of the secret weapons of some of the Barossa's most iconic producers for years.
The amazing array of varieties that they grow on their ancient organic and biodynamic vineyards have been coveted by the likes of Peter Schell, Taras Ochota and more recently Steve Crawford of Frederick Stevenson.
Over the last few years, owners and viticulturists Wayne Aherns and Suzi Hilder have gotten the winemaking bug and ventured out on their own. Their wines are some of the more refreshing and original styles of vino you are likely to find in this historic region.
Explore their range with an open mind, this is Barossa 2.0!
