This is Gewurztraminer served up with gusto.

It was hard to try and pin down the fruit for Bryan Martin in 2020. Bushfires in his area saw him search the West Coast to fill the gap in his range. A global pandemic prevented him from travelling to WA to see it through fermentation - it was a long, crazy journey to put this together. Luckily for Bryan, it was worth the turmoil.

This is Gewurztraminer with the tension and drive you get when it's grown in a cool-climate. It's floral and spicy, yes, but it's also crunchy/savoury and finishes with a dry, minerally flourish.

We love when Gewurz shows like this - balanced, poised and complex. It's a real treat.

About Ravensworth

Bryan Martin is a winemaker at the height of his powers. Setting aside the exceptional work he is doing behind the scenes at regional flagbearer, Clonakilla, his Ravensworth wines have become some of the Canberra region’s hottest releases.

Bryan’s winemaking style is equal parts science and artistic flair. He’s an adventurous spirit trapped in the body of a technical virtuoso. A concert pianist jamming to free jazz. It’s a killer combination.

His range is full of alternative varieties and whacky blends, with texture and balance the key in everything. These are unique wines from a region on the up and up and now some of Canberra’s most sought-after wines.

From The Producer

Hard pressed to find on a map and exactly 2909 kilometres west from where I am sitting now in Murrumbateman, you really can’t fathom how hard it was to find the fruit here and that was before a global pandemic. The wine was processed at nearby Denmark’s iconic winery, Forest Hill. Under my vague instructions, it was suitably left alone to fend for itself. Processed back onto skins and left to ferment out and then a few extra weeks before pressing to tank ahead of a truck arriving to take the wine to Margaret River. Here it was loaded into 1,000l transportable tanks (IBC) loaded onto another truck that took it up to Perth. Next in it’s Homeresqque voyage, it was loaded into a chilled container on a long train and spent 3 days in transit to Sydney. From here our local carter brought to us on a cold early winter’s night in June.

"A gloriously natural golden colour, looks like nectar. Still, given the long skin-contact, these quite heady lychee and rose aromas invade the nasal cavities which we now know go right to the back of our head it seems. The palate is textured and generous, fleetingly peppered with exotic flavour fruits and a slight, maybe I’m reaching to fill this space, ‘Out-of-date-but-still-good cheese aromas. "So pungent. Wild perfume of ginger, preserved lemon, super floral too, almost decaying lillies as the scent. Flavours are set around ginger-lemon tea, the tannins of tea too, it’s at first sweet but then trails off into bitter lemon Schweppes soda kind of feel. It’s really lovely. A nuttiness lingers. Warehouse Pickupis available from our Sydney warehouse in Ultimo, 2007. Just select Local Pickup at checkout. We are open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.

Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
