About The Wine
You know summer is on it's way when Taras Ochota rocks in with his Surfer Rosa.
This is a Rosé wine made from an organically farmed block of Pinot Noir in the Adelaide Hills with a splash of Grenache from the same block as the Green Room.
Here, Taras picks the fruit a little earlier, while the berries are bristling with acid, blushed with colour from the Australian sun.
This is ready and raring to tackle any Sunday afternoon.
This wine makes you feel like grabbing a board and heading for the ocean.
It's a simple, straight-up Rosé. And sometimes, the simple things in life are the best.
About Ochota Barrels
The term “rockstar winemaker” gets thrown around a lot these days but Taras Ochota, owner/purveyor of cult wine label Ochota Barrels, is the real deal.
His grungy, minimalist attitude towards his label has seen him gain huge cult status internationally as one of the most boundary-pushing winemakers in Australia. From his home in the beautiful Basket Range of the Adelaide Hills, Taras and his wife Amber craft small batches of wine from surrounding vineyards in the Hills and special sites across McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley. Taras picks earlier than most as a general rule, so expect lighter, more ethereal wines with freshness and 'tension' as a motif.
These are highly sought after and extremely limited wines which have a pulsating energy and drive to them. Some of the country's most exciting vinous creations, no doubt.

Certified organically dry grown Grenache (10%) from vines planted in 1946 and the pinot noir (90%) is D5V12 clone from Piccadilly valley planted in 1998, but not certified (cos who gives a fuck :) same same
Whole bunches crushed and left on skins for 12 hours before pressing to stainless steel and seasoned French barriques

"This wine has traditionally been from the Green Room Vineyard, from the fringes of the site where the fruit is abundant, this is the second time that pinot noir (40% and from Adelaide Hills) is an inclusion to grenache. Pale salmon pink colour. Fruity, fresh, fruit forward, stacks of crispy crunch with a little sweeter berried fruit character in the tart tang of acidity and finishes a little sweet char to finish. "Crimson red with iridescent vibrancy is the tell tale sign of bright crunchy red fruits. The spice infused nose lifts with lingonberries and charcuterie. The palate entry is full, but has a savoury line which is supported by a lively snappy texture reminiscent of persimmon beads and cranberries. It finishes bone dry with purposely built tannin. Warehouse Pickupis available from our Sydney warehouse in Ultimo, 2007. Just select Local Pickup at checkout. We are open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
