About The Wine
This is an absolute steal of a wine.
This is a blend of Grenache and Syrah from selected biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Rhone Valley. There's something magical about this wines from Mas de Libian, holding a sense of life and energy that is palpable. Not to mention the effortless purity that you see in the glass, too.
The name 'Bout d’Zan' refers to the patriarch's nickname as a kid, however, today it refers to the lick of liquorice that the winemakers see in the wine each year.
It's a red wine that makes you want to sit & swirl. A rosy, cherried, lighter frame Grenache blend that shows the efficacy of gentle farming and low intervention winemaking. Brilliant stuff for the dollars asked.
About Mas de Libian
Mas de Libian is an historic, family-owned farm and winery in the Ardeche region of the southern Rhone, to the west of the river flowing south, up towards the rocky centre of France.
The Thibon family have been here since 1670, and current winemaker Helene Thibon now looks over 25 hectares of lovingly maintained, horse-ploughed chemical-free vineyards - all certified organic and biodynamic.
They focus oo the traditional southern Rhone varieties of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Counoise and Vaccarese, and release lo-fi wines of real purity and interest. A la votre!>
