About the Wine
The Mas Coutelou release is always an exciting moment. This is a producer who has captured the attention of drinkers across the globe and, tasting a wine like this, it's easy to see why. Across the board, the wines carry a sense of verve and tension, making for some deliciously interesting drinking.
There is a lot of bright berries and cherries to this, thanks to a high portion of Cinsault, as well as a soft, pillowy texture and cleansing freshness. A splash of Syrah adds some depth of flavour and peppery spice, while a dash of Grenache rounds things out with a floral lift. Best served with a chill, and best drunk young. Sharing is, of course, optional.
About Mas Coutelou
Located in Puimisson, a commune in the Hérault department of the Languedoc and to the east of Béziers, Mas Coutelou has been a winemaking village for over 200 years and most of it's soils are a mix of red clays and limestone.
The domaine was established in 1972 and has been run organically since 1987. They make wines full of brightness, freshness and vitality in a region where the vast majority of wines are prone to flatness and dullness.
