About The Pack
The Villages wines bridge the gap between Mac Forbes' Yarra Valley range and his Single Vineyard range. If the Yarra Valley wines capture the full voice of the region in full chorus, the Villages wines would be a group of tenors or sopranos, with the Single Vineyard wines playing the soloists.
This sample pack gives you a look at the four beautiful Pinot Noirs from the 2020 vintage. It's a drinking tour of the Yarra Valley through the lens of Pinot Noir. Perfect for a dinner party!
Only a limited amount of packs available.
2020 Mac Forbes Woori Yallock Villages Pinot Noir
The Villages range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnays was first added to the Mac Forbes stable of fine, detailed wines with the 2019 vintage. It bridges the gap between the regional Yarra Valley wines and his Single Vineyard expressions, and wonderfully highlights the sub-regional differences of the Yarra.
Woori Yallock might be the pick of the wines in both the Single Vineyard and the Villages range - they have a wonderful density and power to go alongside Mac's graceful, ethereal touch.
Such a great palate, silky and sinewy, while the pretty red fruit aromatics are incredibly lifted. A high-toned Pinot to match any in the Yarra.
5% whole bunches, 30% foot crushed, nine days on skins, ten months in old oak.

Yarra Junction, in the higher cooler part of the region, is a late-ripening site, producing both Pinot and Chardonnay with great acid lines, and some latent power. This sang at a recent tasting, so high-toned, with some amaro/ negroni twang.
An exquisitely elegant wine, deft and flavoursome with bouncy red berry fruits, a nice herbal element, and Mac's typical pale, sensual palate.
45% whole bunches, 15 days on skins, ten months maturation in old oak.

Gladysdale is not as well-known as his some other Yarra sub-regions, but Mac bought a vineyard there in 2017 and it quickly became a favourite site. This is more on the spicy, herbal side, incredibly aromatic, and with a slightly darker fruit profile.
10% whole bunches, 17 day on skins, ten months in old oak.

Coldstream is one of warmer sub-regions in Mac's portfolio and this is a mid-weight Pinot with a relatively darker colour and fuller mouthfeel - all in the context of Mac's crunchy, paler style!
Dark cherry and raspberry, fairly generous on the palate and enjoys some velvety tannins.
35% whole bunches, 15 days on skins, eight months maturation on old oak.
