About The Wine
Crafted with low yielding Chasselas from the Marin subregion of Savoie. There is a fresh woody character, not oak but something brighter and greener, which is extremely appealing on the nose. It leads to wild flowers and flinty mineral notes which in turn is softened by lovey ripe citrus and lemongrass.
It's pure, elegant and precise and shows us once again that in the loving hands of a master like Dominique Lucas Chasselas is anything but one dimensional.
About Les Vignes de Paradis
5th generation winemaker Dominique Lucas has found his vinous home in Savoie on the border with Switzerland. He bought Les Vignes de Paradis in 2008 and has farmed the estate biodynamically since. The hero variety is Chasselas but he plays with plenty of other varieties too.
Dominique vinifies his grapes in an array of different amphorae, barrels, and concrete eggs, without following any specific path, rather trusting his intuition and intent. The lo-fi line up at this estate reads like a who's who of Chasselas so if you're interested to see just how diverse this underrated variety can be, start here.
