About The Wine
Gelmino and Cristina Dal Bosco practice something they call "heroic viticulture" in their home of Brognoligo in the heart of the Soave DOC.
Their family-owned vineyards are perilously steep. These rocky, volcanic soils produce a style of Garganega that is unlike any other in the world.
It's an extreme place to grow grapes but the results are clearly worth the struggle. These wines show a stunning balance of soft, waxy texture, salinity and minerality with an easy-drinking appeal.
It's a great pleasure to be able to find wines farmed and made as meticulously as this for this kind of price. Textural white lovers, this is the perfect thing to explore if you're loving anything from Loire Chenin Blanc to Sancerre.
About Le Battistelle
The farm of Gelmino and Cristina Dal Bosco is situated in the hamlet of Brognoligo, in the heart of the Soave Classico production area, which is limited only to the communes of Soave and Monteforte d’Alpone, in the province of Verona.
The company started in 2002, after the family gave up selling their grapes to a local wine Cooperative and began a proper vinification. The farm grows 9 hectares vineyard divided in many small pieces all situated in the hills of Brognoligo. The more united piece is the “Battistelle vineyard” situated in the cru of the “Castellaro” hill and the cellar takes its name right from it.
