About The Wine
And a particularly fitting one for a juicy, Summery Rosé like this.
Owen Latta takes his Rosé wines very seriously. This one was a bit of an experiment that took a while to find its groove.
It's mostly made from Sangiovese grapes with a little lift added from some Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. It's been hanging out in barrel and then in bottle since the 2018 harvest and now Owen says it's ready to roll.
It's a fresh, slurpable Rosé with surprising bouce and vivacity given its extra time in bottle.
About Eastern Peake / Latta Vino
Is anyone working as hard as Owen Latta to put Ballarat in the mix of Australia's foremost wine regions? At only 15 years old he completed his first vintage at Eastern Peake alongside his father and has since taken on the full-time running of the business.
Owen is the man primarily responsible for both the Eastern Peake and Latta wines, the former of which being dedicated to premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Eastern Peake vineyard, and the latter being Owen's personal project all about innovation from a range of excellent central Victorian vineyards.
The wines are all gently brought to life with very astute yet hands-off winemaking, and Owen's low and zero-sulphur wines are some of the best examples in the country. These are thrilling, absolutely unique Victorian wines, and quite simply Owen Latta is one of Australia's finest young winemakers.
