About The Wine
Outstanding value premium Riesling from the Pfalz, from a cult producer renowned for making textured, slightly oxidative wines, with long ageing in oak.
This premium-grade fruit is picked by hand in five stages to attain perfect balance of both ripeness and steely acidity. The ferment is arrested just before the wine goes dry, which gives it a sweet, lime-and-honey-like character.
This long, slow, time to get to bottle is well worth it. This drinks like a dream.
About Koehler-Ruprecht
Koehler-Ruprecht is one of the oldest and most distinguished producers in Pfalz, located in the village of Kallstadt at the very northern tip of the region.
They are renowned for wonderful single site Rieslings from Saumagen vineyard but the entire range is outstanding, with a focus on top quality estate fruit, natural ferments and long lees-aging in large old oak.
Now owned by the Sauvage family, of Burnt Cottage fame, local boy Dominik Sona has returned to Pfalz from winemaking overseas to take the reins.
