About The Wine
Hoddles Creek, under the guidance of Franco D'Anna, continue to push the boundaries of value for money in Australian wine.
The latest release of their Pinot Gris is a brilliant value proposition. It's made with care and intent. The fruit picked in two stages; the first is foot stomped immediately to allow the juice to make contact with the skins, picking up vital phenolics and texture.
Once the natural ferment kicks off, the fruit is pressed and sent to barrel. The second batch was made, in essence, like a red wine - fermented on skins for a week and pressed once dry.
If you want to see this variety in full flight, you need to try this wine. For $22, this is as good as Australian Pinot Gris gets.
