About The Wine
Gunderloch is one of Rheinhessen's top producers.
Brought to prominence by the late, great Fritz Hasselbach, Fritz' legacy today is carried on by his thoughtful and incisive son, Johannes.
This wine is the creation of Johannes and was named for his late father. It's insane value in the context of German Riesling.
It's juicy, succulent, and gives that combination of sweet, jellied lime and crunchy acid that only the Germans can do.
If you want a no-brainer Riesling that you can rip the top off any night of the week, Fritz's Riesling is near impossible to go past.
About Gunderloch
Gunderloch is a Rheinhessen institution, they were a founding member of the VdP classification and have been pioneering fine wine production in the region since the 1890s.
The Gunderloch vineyards, on the unique red stone of the Rothenberg hill, have been in the family for six generations and as current custodian Johannes says ‘Each generation ends up defining its own unique relationship to the Rothenberg. We live on it, from it, with it. It ultimately makes us who we are.”
They make Pinot Noir and Sylvaner but their Rieslings are the real show stoppers, a heady mix of fruit, power and minerality they reflect the ironstone soils brilliantly.
A great addition to any Riesling drinkers roll call.
