About The Wine

The Grosset Springvale Riesling is a top example of Watervale Riesling, one of the premium sub-regions of the Clare Valley.

The Springvale is known to be the more approachable of the two dry Grosset Rieslings, a little softer in fruit and floral in aromatic profile than the racier Polish Hill. Though no slouch in the cellar, Springvale tends to offer supreme early drinking as well as the promise of more in the coming decade.

The 2020 release is excellent. The full spectrum of classic flavours that you expect from the area. It's dry, mineral-charged, limey and yet deliciously approachable.

Carefully crafted by one of the country's most incisive wine minds, this is a stunning release.

Additional Info

From The Producer

The low yields of the 2020 vintage may have reduced the availability of the Grosset Springvale but not its accessibility. It has bright, fresh aromas of lemon drop and lemon meringue aromatics. There’s a soft fleshiness in the mouth with intense and concentrated lemon and lemon curd flavours with a hint of kaffir lime. Deliciously reflecting both site and season, it is a complete wine with a finish that is supple, fine and extremely long.

Blend : Riesling (100%)

The Wine Front

"Easy access Springvale, following a similar thread with 2020 Polish Hill too. Waxy texture with a juicy finish, lime cordial, floral things in scent and mouth perfume, a little bit of apple dunked in lemon juice and a starburst of grapefruit juice lending tightness and freshness while making you squint and flush warm under your eyes. Touches of smoky mineral character? A little truffle note? Almost a candied mixed peel thing going on. Bolder flavours, bigger mouthfeel, no dart-shaped precision here, but a pleasing, fleshier wine is here. Intrigue." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Erin Larkin

"Lime zest, pith, limestone and white pepper. Freshly crushed granny smith apple (skin on) and brine in there too. There is a salty lick that forms the backbone of acid that runs through the very core of this wine. It doesn’t flow in the order I expect it to, which takes nothing away from it, it just makes it unique. Savoury, salty and tight but underpinned by fleshy generosity… it’s like a firm steel structure thrown onto a plush down-filled coverlet… enduring, stupendous length of flavour – I can taste it long after it is gone. Saline and lingering. Great length of flavour. Powerhouse." - Erin Larkin (erinlarkin.com)

Elegant and affordable.

Grosset’s Springvale Riesling is one of Grosset’s riesling triumvirs. The Alea is delightful and finishes with a touch of residual sweetness. The Polish hill is a smashing riesling, but with a bigger price tag. The Springvale is equally enjoyable with out the expense. Great with oysters.

Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.

FaQs

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.

Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 1300 668 385 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
