About This Wine
So pale in colour, you could be forgiven for thinking this rose was actually a white wine. Produced entirely from Nerello Mascalese, this wine showcases the volcanic soil from whence is sprang.
This salty Etna Rose is one for the books. Pale and orange-hued (barely), the wine is loaded with flavour; sweet stone-fruit, salt, and fresh cut herbs, marked by a lingering (and endearing) smokiness that only volcano wine can provide.
A really fine expression of the Nerello variety in Rosato form; mineral, pretty, and structured with a fine and really enjoyable tannin profile.
About Girolamo Russo
Based on the north-face of Mt Etna, Giuseppe Russo tends to his century-old vineyard around the village of Passopisciaro with organic viticulture.
A former classical pianist, Giuseppe founded (and named) his estate in the memory of his late father Girolamo in in 2005.
The vineyards are planted high on lava flows of one of the world's most active volcanos; with mineral rich soils, juxtaposed with an arid, dry climate. As such, the wines of Etna showcase exceptional minerality, as the grapes grown here truly highlight the unique topography of the soils.
Each parcel of fruit is vinified individually, creating unique wines, each of which is a true representation of its origins.
