About The Wine
The 'Georges Deschamps' label pays tribute to the third generation of the Vrignaud family, currently headed by the fifth-generation winemaker Guillaume.
These are wines made in the traditional, old-school way (what modern winemakers might call the 'lo-fi' or minimal intervention style), and this enticing Petit Chablis is no exception. Crafted from organic grapes, this wine is hand-picked and fermented with wild yeast, preserving a minerally feeling of terroir.
Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no new oak and some nice lees work.
About Georges Deschamps
Winemaker Guillaume Vrignaud is the fifth generation of his family to farm vineyards in France's northern Chablis region, but is the first of his family to actually make wine from his own grapes!
Alongside Domaine Vrignaud's more traditional range, Guillaume produces the 'Georges Deschamps' label in homage to his great-grandfather, who planted the family's first Premier Cru vines in 1955. To honour the late Georges, Guillaume follows a traditional, natural approach to winemaking, with wild yeast fermentation, long lees ageing without batonnage, and ageing in old oak vessels.
Following organic practices since 2009, the family's domaine has been certified organic since 2012.
