About the Wine
With Red Burgundy's unceasing price rises, let's go south for a great value French Pinot Noir - a long way south to the rocky island of Corsica. This crunchy, pine-fresh Pinot results from the timeless tale of the famous Burgundy producer with a holiday home who asks local growers if they fancy doing a collab.
Francois Labet (owner of Chateau de la Tour) was crafted a lovely wine, with good acidity, Mediterranean herbs and a fresh crunch.
Ile de Beaute, or Island of Beauty, is not an ego-stroke, but an offical IGP classification. But it is scenic nonetheless.
About Francois Labet
Francois Labet is one of the Burgundy's legends, a pioneer of organic viticulture and the largest vineyard holder in the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru with Château de la Tour.
Chateau de la Tour was built in 1890 by the ancestors of the current owners, the Labet and D'Achelette families, who trace their roots in wine back to the end of the 15th century.
Francois has a foothold in Corsica too, producing great value Pinot Noir from their coastal mountains, where he spends much of his holiday time...
