About the Wine
Showing citrus and herbal flavours, this not a southern hemisphere varietal SB.
Instead, it's all about the the chalky terroir of the Loire.
Time on lees but no oak, Chidaine has crafted a tremendous value wine here, so you can have a little touch of France every day without breaking the bank.
It's a delicious Sauvignon full of purity, but it certainly isn't your stereotypical Sauvignon Blanc. Bright, flavourful, with a little edge, it's a tremendous bargain.
About Francois Chidaine
Just across the river from Vouvray, to the south, is the appellation of Montlouis, also dedicated to Chenin Blanc. There, Francois Chidaine has built an unsurpassed reputation as a great organic grower-producer.
Super-low yields and minimal intervention are his watchwords, both in Montlouis and in Vouvray. And look out for bargain Sauvignon Blanc and Rose from Touraine, and probably more to come.
