About The Wine

A different take on Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris here, but a very good one.

It comes from Moorooduc-grown fruit in Red Hill, with a portion fermented on its skins, before all aged in neutral oak, with some lees stirring.

The aromatics are pretty and floral, the fruit pure and true, the texture mouth-filling and slightly chewy.  All in all a really easy wine to like and lovely Spring/Summer drinking!

About Fleet Wines

Fleet Wines is the culmination of 30 years of combined experience in wine hospitality for husband and wife duo Justin and Lisa Jenkins.

They have approached their label with an eye to crafting contemporary, elegant wines that slip neatly into the modern zeitgeist of Australian food and wine culture.

They source their fruit from Gippsland, Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Valley with an increasing amount being farmed by them personally. With plenty of great press coming their way in a relatively short time, they are one young Victorian label that you'd do well to keep a close eye on.

Textural and Alluring White Wine

This 2020 Fleet Pinot Gris from Mornington Peninsula is a heady and spiced white, packed with white florals and orchard fruit. It’s fine and textural finish a highlight, that holds on and on to the exuberant flavours.

A delightfully brash pinot gris loaded with flavour. But what really stands out are the tea-like tannins, thanks to some cleverly handled skin contact. This wine has dimension and appeals to those who want a little bit more from their whites. It’s fine texture and florals will be a lovely match to dishes with a touch of spice.

‘Yellow peach colour, floral aromas, spiced pears, textural fleshy core, long quenching acidity, expressive and never-ending.’

"Mornington Peninsula. This is referred to as ‘Young Wines’ rather than the Gippsland ‘White Label’ range. A portion is skin fermented, the whole lot hangs out on lees in barrels. A bit going on.  Orange-pink colour. Slippery then gently puckering, juicy, pear drop, green herb, barely there mescal and grassiness, and faintly bitter in a pleasing way to finish. Light grip in palate, a touch of tonic water rises up in the flavour profile after a while, settles in nicely with some sweet fruitiness too. Lots going on, super easy and good drink." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
